Royal Caribbean International

A cruise on board a Royal Caribbean International ship is truly like no other kind of holiday. The atmosphere on board is fun and friendly, with a wide variety of new and innovative features that can't be found on any other ship. With new additions Quantum and Anthem of the Seas launching in 2014 and 2015, the Royal Caribbean International fleet will consist of 23 ships, ranging from mid-sized to large resort-style ships.

Royal Caribbean International's ships travel to a number of destinations across the globe, with extensive itineraries in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Alaska. The ships feature fantastic entertainment facilities, as well as world-class dining and comfortable accommodation options. They are particularly popular with families because of the excellent children's facilities available, but also suit couples and single travellers who like the friendly, less formal atmosphere on board.

Food And Drink

Royal Caribbean International caters for a variety of different nationalities so you will find a wide choice of restaurants available. All of the ships have at least one main dining room for formal dining, as well as a self-service buffet so you can dine in a more casual atmosphere at your own leisure.

You will also find a number of fantastic speciality restaurants available, such as Chops Grille steak house, plus a wealth of great alternative dining venues. All of the restaurants have an extensive wine menu, plus there are lots of fun and lively bars available throughout the day and night serving beer, soft drinks, cocktails and spirits.

There is never a dull moment when you are on board a Royal Caribbean International ship. All of the ships feature an extensive range of entertainment, with something to suit all ages. During the day you can relax in the spa, browse the on board shops, take part in deck games and sports activities, or enjoy a cold drink out on deck by the pool - the choice is yours.

In the evening you will find plenty of lively bars and lounges that feature a wide variety of entertainment such as cabaret acts and live bands, plus production shows in the theatres and dancing in the nightclubs. Exclusively on board the Oasis Class ships is the Aquatheatre, where you can see the most amazing high dive and acrobatics shows in the ships' own amphitheatre.

All of the ships in the Royal Caribbean International fleet have excellent children's facilities, so they are a great choice for families. The Adventure Ocean youth programme caters to children aged 6 months to 17 years old and is split in to various age groups. Young children can enjoy learning games, face painting, and fancy dress, whilst older children can take part in sports games, movies and even science experiment. Teens have their own separate area where they can listen to music, watch movies and play the latest video games.

A popular addition to some of the ships is the H20 Zone, which is a water park for families and children, with lots of water guns, fountains and sprinklers. The Adventure Ocean clubs are usually open between 9am and 5pm during the day, and between 7pm and 10pm in the evening for children and 2am for teens. Group and in-cabin babysitting are also available for an additional charge, subject to availability.

Good food is an important part of any cruise, but it is something that Royal Caribbean pays particular attention to. On all of their ships you will find you are spoilt for choice with endless dining possibilities, ranging from self-service buffet and ice-cream parlours, to speciality restaurants and main dining rooms. Regardless of your cabin type you can choose to dine as formally or informally as you like, although there are two main options to choose from in the evening.

Traditional Dining (Fixed Seat Dining)

Traditional Dining is available on all of the ships in the Royal Caribbean fleet and this option means you will have a fixed time in one of the main dining rooms each night. At the time you book your cruise you can choose either the main seating at 6pm* or the second seating at 8.30pm*, as well as requesting your preferred table size of 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10. This time and table size is then reserved for each night of your cruise, and you will have the same people at your table too, depending on the size of table you requested.

*Please note that dining times can vary from ship to ship, depending on destination.

My Time Dining

My Time Dining is available on all ships across the fleet and it's a really popular choice with families because it offers greater flexibility. You still dine in one of the main dining rooms, but you won't have a fixed time or table size like you would for the fixed seat dining. When you book your cruise you just need to select the My Time dining option, and then when you arrive on board, just reserve your table at your chosen time, between 6pm* and 9.30pm*. You will need to pre-pay your gratuities by adding them on at the time of booking, as you will have different wait staff each night in the restaurant.

*Please note that dining times can vary from ship to ship, depending on destination.
