A cruise holiday is a great way for all the family to relax and spend time together, and modern cruise ships offer a fantastic range of kids' facilities as well as family-friendly accommodation and dining. Popular cruise lines for families include P&O Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruises, all of which have daily children's clubs run by fully trained child carers.
The clubs are usually split up into various different age groups, ranging from 3 to 17 years old, with the activities tailored to suit each group. Younger children often take part in arts and crafts, games, face painting and dancing, whilst older children and teens can enjoy sports, movie nights, parties and the latest compute games. You will often find outdoor facilities too such as children's pools, waterslides, water parks, sports courts and even rock climbing walls! Many ships offer individual or group babysitting either in cabin or in the clubs during the evening time too.
Each cabin type will offer the option of sleeping extra passengers, whether it's in upper berth beds or convertible sofa beds. Some cruise lines, such as Royal Caribbean, have specific family cabins that can sleep a minimum of 5 people and have separate bedroom and living areas. If it's not possible to have a cabin that will fit everyone in, it's worth trying to get interconnecting cabins as it means you can still keep an eye on the kids but have your own space too.
Top TipsMany parents think that their children have to go to the children's clubs but that's not the case at all, it is completely optional and up to you how often your child goes.
